Support Us

Every year, hundreds of thousands of parents/carers find themselves in hospital with a sick child, or are part of the hospital system from the moment their child is born. Just as children in hospital are supported to survive and thrive, so too must their parents and carers. We’re delighted you want to support parents and carers in hospital!

If you are an individual

We are a small charity, entirely funded by donations. Because of our size, even a small donation can have a really big impact.

You can donate to us through:

You can also download Ripples an app to donate pennies by rounding up your card payments every time you spend. Join here!

All our donation platforms take a small percentage of your donation. If you would like to make a large donation to Confident Conversations, please contact us so we can ensure your entire donation reaches us. Our Director, Lydia, can be contacted directly on confidentconversations.charity@gmail.com.

  • Sponsored silence: we’re all about confident conversations, so why not flip it and hold a sponsored silence? Just decide how long you’ll stay silent for and get fundraising.
  • Virtual coffee morning: under normal circumstances, many people host coffee mornings with a large guest list to create a party atmosphere and get those donations flooding in. Despite coronavirus, you can still organise an event, but you’ll need to take it online. Delivering treats or decorations, in return for donations, might be a nice way of making your guests feel part of things.
  • Virtual pub quiz: Played from the comfort of your own home, online quizzing allows teams to connect and have fun while competing to see who can score the highest number of points. Ask people to donate to take part. You can suggest a donation amount or ask people to donate what they think the quiz is worth.
  • Film Club: Pick a film to watch, set a time to meet online to discuss the film and ask for a donation to take part. For more fun, get everyone to dress up as their favorite character – or in the style of the film.
  • Games night: host an evening of games and challenges with friends online, and ask for a donation to take part. Add a bit of extra fundraising into the night by giving penalty fines for being late or talking about work.
  • Jargon box: at the office, at home or during online calls, charge a fine for using jargon. Anyone caught encouraging others to ‘thinking outside the box’ or ‘get all their ducks in a row’ owes you a charity donation.

Choose your challenge – or come up with your own idea. And see how many people you can get to join you!

Facebook fundraisers can be a great way for friends and family to support your efforts. See how to set up a fundraiser here.

If you’re looking to make new friends, learn new skills – or share your own – volunteering is a great way to make a difference. We have two main opportunities.

  1. Parent/Carer Advisory Board: the Board is made up of parents and carers who have experience being in hospital with their children. They ensure that our advice and support is as good as it can be. If you have been in hospital with your child in the last five years, do consider volunteering.
  2. Medical Advisory Panel: it’s vital that we engage medical professionals in supporting parents and carers in hospital. The Medical Advisory Panel is made up of medical professionals who work in or who have significant experience of working with children.

We encourage volunteers from all backgrounds and communities, and are committed to having Boards which are made up of diverse skills, experiences and abilities.

If you’d like to join either of these groups, please get in touch with us.

Does your workplace allow colleagues to nominate a chosen charity? Does it have a fund to support charities? If so, nominate Confident Conversations.

Some companies will offer to match the funds you raise during your event, up to a certain amount. Don’t forget to ask your work if they are able to match your fundraising.

You can also put a collecting box for Confident Conversations in your workplace, or organise a fundraising event at work!

If you’d like to support Confident Conversations at work – get in touch with us to see how we can support you.

We value all support, and there’s lots you can do to help us if you can’t spare time or money at the moment.

  • Parent stories are incredibly powerful when they are shared. If you feel you can share your experiences of being in hospital with your child, please get in touch with us.
  • If your friends and family often ask you for birthday or holiday gift ideas, you can ask them to donate to Confident Conversations instead.
  • You can raise money for us at no extra cost to you when you shop through EasyFundraising and Give As You Live, and choosing Confident Conversations as your charity.

If you are an organisation

No matter the size of your organisation, there’s always an opportunity to make the world a better place.
